The Origins of The Alexandra Hospital

We have been asked if anyone knows the origins of the land on which the Alexandra Hospital was built in Redditch.

The road leading to the hospital is Quinney’s Lane and the suggestion is that the land was bequeathed for a hospital by the Quinney family. The restaurant in the Hospital is also known as Quinney’s Restaurant so there appears to be a link to the name.

The map shows no farm at the site, Shaekespeare Farm is where the Ley’s (Now Tudor Grange) was built. Tanhouse farm is further away on Green Lane. The Quinney family being associated with Oak Farm in Sambourn which is even further away.

I’m not a native of Redditch so do not know these family links but someone may know.
